Enlightened and smart businesses have long understood that giving back to society is great for business, done well it helps attract / retain both customers and staff and strengthens your brand.  But that trend is deepening fast, and when in January Larry Fink, CEO of the world’s largest asset manager BlackRock, published a letter saying that firms that lack a social purpose “will ultimately lose the license to operate from key stakeholders” it marked a watershed moment in the importance of authentic corporate responsibility.  We examine the need and opportunity and demonstrate through a host of case studies, from global behemoths to sole traders, that giving is a catalyst for growth and that no business is too small to make a difference.
